¡Hola! You may be surprised to know that, for translators, the most important language is always our mother tongue. Of course, speaking other languages is key, but in my case Spanish is the main tool that I use everyday.

It doesn’t matter if you love using foreign phrases or if you hate them with all your heart, I am sure that in either case you will not be surprised to hear how intertwined languages actually are in the current globalised era. That is why those who work with two languages at the same time need to be professionals: only then every decision taken while translating (and believe me, there are quite a few to take!) is based on a clear and solid judgement. As everything else, language is not innocent, and the consequences of what we say and how we say it end up impacting cultures and societies.
Just into Spanish
One of the most popular questions among those who hire translation services for the first time is ‘Which languages do you translate into?’. And the answer tends to come as a surprise, because nobody expects to hear ‘Just into Spanish’. Actually, there are certain professionals who, after many decades living abroad and thousands of words of experience, dare to translate into a language which is not their foreign tongue, and they do a great job. However, in most cases, if you want your text to adjust to the new suit which is another language as if it were custom-made, you need a real artisan who knows the language from birth.
